Today in a ceremony held in Toledo City Council Chambers, Fire Chief Luis Santiago promoted Battalion Chief Karen Marquardt to Assistant Chief of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department.
Assistant Chief Marquardt becomes the first female to hold this position in the 177 year history of the department. Assistant Chief Marquardt was appointed to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department in 1996 and saw promotion to Lieutenant in 2007, Captain in 2009, and April of 2011 she was promoted to Battalion Chief.
Also promoted in today’s ceremony was Michael Nicely to Battalion Chief, Robert Walters to Captain, and Michael Howe to Lieutenant.
