On October 4, 2015 at 10 a.m., the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation held its annual ceremony honoring firefighters that have died in the Line of Duty the previous year. Since 1992, the NFFF has held this ceremony to honor America’s Fallen Firefighters. The ceremony is held in Emmitsburg, MD.
This year Pvt. Stephen Machcinski and Pvt. James Dickman were honored during this ceremony. Steve and Jamie died in the Line of Duty on January 26, 2014 while fighting a fire at 528 Magnolia Street.
Traveling to Emmitsburg for the ceremony was Chief Santiago, Capt. Mike Benadum, T.F.R.D. Honor Guard members: Pvts. Chad Lowry, Jeff Koenigseker, Komako Goolsby and Marlene Metti. Pvts. Keith Szenderski and Matt Conway served as Family Escorts for the Machcinski and Dickman families at the ceremony this year.
