Commander Michael Majewski and six members of the USS Toledo, a fast-attack submarine, have been visiting our city since August 16, 2014.
The crew toured local attractions and schools, as well as community service at the Toledo Children’s Hospital. Three members of the USS Toledo also spent some time responding with our fire crews at stations 5, 7, and 16.
Commander Majewski, a Toledo native and Start High graduate, presented Chief Santiago with an American flag that was flown from the gaff of the USS Toledo (SSN 769) on this past July 24th and 25th. This American flag was flown in memory and honor of Private Stephen Machcinski and Private James Dickman, our two firefighters that were killed in the line of duty on January 26, 2014.
The crew members of the USS Toledo also met with the crew of Station 3 and also toured newly renovated Station 3.
