station_9Fire Station 9 was first erected in 1893 at the corner of Broadway & Orchard and housed there was one Milburn Combination Hose & Chemical Wagon.

Station 9 served at Broadway & Orchard until May 8, 1989, when replaced by a new station located at

900 South Avenue.

Various apparatus have served out of Station 9, ranging from Engines, “A” Units, Rescue Transport, Safety Officer, and Ladder Trucks.

Captain Tom Phillips

Captain Phillips was appointed to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department on March 22, 1996. He received his Paramedic certification on March 2, 2000. Captain Phillips was promoted to Lieutenant February 29, 2008, then to Captain on May 1, 2011.

Captain Phillips holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Toledo and a Master’s in Leadership from Grand Canyon University’s Colangelo School of Business, with concentrations in Executive Fire Leadership and Disaster Preparedness.

Captain Phillips has worked at Engine 18, Engine 9, Engine 19, Life Squad 1, and the Training Academy.
