At 1141 hrs. today, Engine Co. 6, Truck 5, and Engine13 were dispatched to a report of natural gas leak in the 800 block of Utah Street in east Toledo. Life Squad 2, from station 6, was added following the report of a worker suffering burns. Columbia Gas was on Utah repairing a four inch natural gas line in the street when the flash fire occurred.
Engine Company 6 arrived on scene to find that the fire was out and the worker was out of the hole in the street where the repair was being completed.
Crews evacuated several houses around the leak and remained on scene during the repair for any possible fire.
The injured worker was transported by Life Squad 2 with assistance from crew members from Engine 6.
