That is the question being posed by our Recruiting Team. Testing for the next Fire Class scheduled in 2017 opened on September 17, 2016 and will be open until January 31, 2017.
The testing process has changed compared to how it was done in the past. Our Department and the Human Resources Department collaborated to revamp the testing procedure by contracting with an outside contractor. National Testing Network offers testing services through the vendor Ergometrics & Applied Personnel Research, Inc. Testing is accomplished through testing centers at the University of Toledo and Owens Community College. The test is computerized and is monitored with the cost of the exam at $50 with the exception being the first 1000 applicants who are verified residents of the City of Toledo, who will receive vouchers which will cover the cost of the test.
Testing is offered multiple time per week including Saturdays. There is no study material available for the test; however, the applicants may take online practice exams.
Applicants who have a passing score on the written portion will be placed on the department’s eligibility list. The physical portion of the test will be the “Firefighter Mile”. You may visit YouTube or nationaltestingnetwork.com to view the test.
