Today at 10:00 a.m., the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department will hold its Annual Awards Ceremony in the Toledo City Council chambers at One Government Center. The awards range from the “Medal of Valor” to “Letter From The Chief”. Captain Mike Benadum, the awards committee chairman, will MC the event.
At 12:00 p.m. today, the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department will then hold its Annual Memorial Service remembering those Toledo Firefighters that were killed in the line of duty. The service this year holds additional significance with the Line of Duty Deaths of Private Stephen Machcinski and Private James Dickman. Privates Machcinski and Dickman were killed in the line of duty on January 26, 2014 at an apartment fire at 528 Magnolia. Today their names will be added to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department’s Memorial Monument which is located at Chubb DeWolfe Park across from Toledo Fire & Rescue Headquarters.
